Benefits/Requirements Program
1)
$ 2,000.00 will be
allocated in the association’s budget each year;
$
1,000.00
for the Educational
Assistance Program, and $ 1,000.00 for the Legal
Assistance Program.
2)
Members will be
eligible for up to $ 500.00 (per member, per
calendar year) or until the $ 1,000.00 allocated
for the year is depleted.
3)
(Eligibility)
Educational - To be eligible, members
must have: #1) been a member in good standing
for one year, #2) attended (5) five business
meetings a year and participated in at least (1)
one fund raiser,
Legal
- #1) been a member in good
standing for one year, #2) attended (3) business
meetings a year and participated in at least (2)
two fund raisers prior to applying for
assistance.
4)
(Education)
Members must submit documentation showing
successful completion in a law
enforcement/career development course and
invoice/receipt of the amount to be reimbursed.
The Education/Legal Assistance Committee
appointed by the President will have final
approval. If necessary, any appeals may be
heard by the general membership in the next
monthly business meeting and must be approved by
a two thirds vote of those members present.
5) (Legal) For legal assistance (attorney’s fees) up to $ 500.00 for an incident occurring on duty or when acting under the color of law. Members requesting legal assistance funds must submit documentation requesting such funds. The Education/Legal Committee will have final approval. If necessary, any appeals may be heard by the general membership in the next monthly business meeting and must be approved by a two thirds vote of those members present.
