      BEDFORD COUNTY DEPUTY’S ASSOCIATION 
BY-LAWS (continued)

ARTICLE VI - Committees 

SECTION 1
The President may designate committees, each of which shall consist of at least three members.

SECTION 2
One member of the committee shall be appointed Chairman by the President and shall serve at his pleasure. 

SECTION 3
Vacancies in the membership of any committee may be filled by appointments made in the same manner as original appointments. 

SECTION 4
 Each committee may adopt rules for its own government not inconsistent with these by-laws. 

ARTICLE VII - Election of Officers 

A nomination committee shall be appointed by the President at the September meeting and they shall report back to the Association at the November meeting at which time the officers shall be elected by ballot vote from the majority of the general membership present at the meeting. Votes will be counted by the committee and the officer shall take office with the term expiring on December 31st of the second year.  The General Membership shall fill any vacancy that may occur in any office during the two-year term.  If presented, nominations for officers can be accepted by the floor at the September meeting and shall be a part of the ballot vote at the November meeting.  Present and past officers may serve multiple terms. 

ARTICLE VIII - Meetings 

Meetings of the general body shall be held on the third Tuesday of each month at 12:00 pm at such place as may be designated by the President.  Notice of the meetings shall be posted at least two weeks prior to the meeting. 

  ARTICLE IX - Amendments 

Proposed amendments to the by-laws shall be submitted in writing to the Secretary at the meeting of the general body.  Such written proposals shall be turned over to the By-laws Committee.  At the next meeting of the general body, the By-laws Committee shall report the proposal.  A vote of the general body shall be taken.  Upon adoption by a two-thirds vote of those members present, the proposed amendment shall become part of these by-laws. 

  ARTICLE X - Dues 

The initial annual dues shall be $ 20.00 dollars.  The General Membership shall determine by resolution any changes in the dues. 

ARTICLE XI - Parliamentary Procedure 

Except as provided by these by-laws, "Robert's Rule of Order, Revised" shall govern the conduct of all meetings of the Association.
